have done it too, bone graft and screw also, was broken for 2 years before i got it checked out properly, the bone had descintigrated over time.
done a few. had plaster casts.
Not sure what Doctors do now with the injury but make sure your young bloke doesnt skate until the doctors give him the all clear.
He should be right in 6 weeks after the injury depending on the severity of the injury.
you might consider wearing protec wrist guards to help prevent reoccurance of the injury.
Have got some pro designed wristy's on order for him.
Will do my best to stop him skating, a bit hard when he saw mw surfing and skating with mine in a glass cast, perhaps not a good parental example
