"This group would be most effective if it is a registered skateboarding association, as individuals have less power than an organisation.( this is why the other sporting facilities you have mentioned have more success in getting the kind of facilities they are after , they are all registered clubs or associations.)"

so if any ones keen to get this shit done and get a good park a big proper park that is built somwere around here

The park is at Mayfield on the mian road, not hard to find.
As for some kind of super park,we will be waiting another 10 years. The council is tighter than a nun's nasty

Go to department of fair trade, get the forms to fill out, think of a name, register as non-profit orginisation.
(think it's about $150)
you only need a couple of people to hold positions on the committee.

best of luck to you

Oliver. Don't hold your breathe for another NCC park!

LMCC is definitely building a park on the Swansea foreshore (for sure) and will shortly want to consult with skaters over design and involve us to out-shout opposition during the community consultation phase. Susan Boyd is the lady to speak with at LMCC.

As for incorporated associations, I've said this before:

I was pres of the Newc and Lake Macquarie Skateboard assoc. at one time in the 80's so i've been down this road before.
However, from that experience I learnt that having an 'active incorporated skateboard assoc.' makes us look (skaters) neat and tidy when we rock up to Sports Council meetings with the NCC and jump in the cue for funding but..........
Skateboarding in Newcastle (anywhere for that matter) is a 'wild animal', full of rebellious individuals and groups/factions and that's the nature of skateboarders, the idea of organising an association is not what we're about.

im keen to help out as i said in any way
LMCC seems to be more about skating then newcastle council (things like no skate stoppers etc any where) but they only build small parks.

i think an extension to croudace would be good as the park is laready great and also would rather have a big park then another small one. also croudace had lots and lots of area around the existing park to build onto.

resurfacing croudace would be a good start, plus make the transition there a little larger. It is just a little too small for my liking. It is a big area indeed Anthony, but given that the park has copped some crticism in the media regarding its upkeep(rubbish all over the shop),I would be amazed if any additions are considered at all.
A whole new park is needed with shit everyone likes to skate,me I dont care what I skate

yeh i would love to have input for the park at Swansea i think we should get a big parks as man other citys and states have heaps off good parks and we dont even get one but bak to the Swansea park you need to put bowls seen as though im a bowl skter i find it so Annoying that there are no bowls round here to sk8 and the only chancve i get to is wen i go on holis witch is not all that often so you have any plans or any thing to show so far id very much liek to see them

thanks to all
oliver

a bowl section that opens into a street oriented section??? both custom designed???

Cozmick Avenger 10:09 02/Mar/07

LMCC are definitely keen to cater for the 'intermediate to advanced' skater at Swansea and the design aspect is still wide open to input.
Speaking of holidays, it helps a heap that Susan Boyd's last vacation was in Cairns. She saw the newly built Convic park and has a now has a real notion of what a good park looks like.
I'm confident we'll get something good at Swansea.
