You could try to get people to sign a waiver, but good luck!
Your best bet would be to put up a "Skate at your own risk" style sign.
The risk is there, and householders lnsurance Liability cover would not cover that. Check your wording though.
If anything, just user your discretion when inviting people to use your ramp - if a friend tried to sure you can always kick fuck out of them if they step out of line.
If you built the ramp, there is a strong possibility of a court case in the event they other party hurts themselves due to your gross negligence.
- If they hurt themselves because they skated up the ramp and it collapsed on top of them due to a fault in its design, construction etc, you are going to get sued and they are going to win.
- If they skate up the ramp and fly off the side and hurt themselves, that is their responsibility and you are sweet.
Other aspects such as sharp corners, edges etc are in what I would call a grey area, and you could get taken to court and the case could go either way really, depending on a host of factors.
A person signing a waiver cannot sign away rights such as the right to make a claim in the case of gross negligence. So basically you have to weight up these pros and cons, as well as who you are selling the ramp to. The fact you are asking about the legalities tells me you are either selling it to anybody or someone you arent sure about, which obviously is a risk. What if the person you sell to resells it to someone else? That is also a risk, as I believe they can sue you as well. I will check on that though.
Good luck.
