Five Dock - Smooth Rollin.....

Cole 07:07 05/Dec/06

i guess to but it might be a time for a change right? things arent the same anymore and times have changed. dont think of me as some punk young guy (because im not) think of me as a realist. besides i used to skate down there 11 yrs ago and have always wanted something to ride that was worthwhile. im not dissing the old bowl, (maybe i am) but i have been waiting a long time too. Change isnt always a bad thing.

They aren't memories Trog, they're fukn nightmares. The place sucked arse from the moment the concrete set. The only reason we rode it was because there were only 3 parks in Sydney. The Dock, North Ryde, and Kierle Park.

I like my skating to progress, not regress into utter nightmares.

Changing times is a good thing, and long as it creates fun times.

As far as putting in a plaza, go down the road & you'll find one there. The Dock Bowls are here to stay!

Mad Pic Trog! Even with the Grass.

Catch ya all there Sunday Folks for some Smooth Rollin.....

All he did was repost one of my pics Mark. Thanks though Trog. Saved me from a self props berating. BTW, that was shot around late 84 or early 85 when I realized how much I sucked at surfing and went back to full time skating. Mid 85 was when I got the Lance Mountain and discovered Hulleys and a REAL vert ramp.

The only reason I skated The Dock after that was because Ryde had been demolished along with Hulleys. The revamped Hulleys lived with GH at Quakers for a short while around 86, then Kierle got the first public vert ramp in Sydney in 87.

I'm pleasantly suprised by the size of this new park hey.
Big trans but it's a huge area.
Nice to see. Some big coin in that council ? how many coins roughly for that one? 1 mil ?

Sorry Sidey, only just saw your post. I'll get back to you tonight.

Budget is/was $250,000.

Huge is what Sydney needed. Too many parks have nice height, but not enough footprint. The bigger the transition, the more space you need between walls to think of what to do and where to go next.

Obviously (knowing the cost of skatepark design and consruction) that WAS the budget I would guess it would be closer to double that figure Mick!

By the way checked it out with Luxo last Sunday (did the right thing and just looked) and looking forward to getting back down for a roll

not too happy with the kinked coping blocks across the top of the over vert. I guess $4 G is too much for the curved moulds to be made. Perhaps people should have listened when I suggested a FUNd raising campaign.

Sidey 04:50 08/Dec/06

250 K sounds extremely cheap doesnt it?
I thought that sort of coin barely got something like waterloo. but I got no idea.
